Computers and Technology

Many features and services have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the most current information about the availability of computers, study rooms and other services, please visit Grab & Go Services.

In the Library

There are four public computers in the Youth Services Department and eight computers in the Adult Services Department. Computer users must visit the Youth or Adult Services Desk to reserve a 55-minute computer session. 

To use a computer, you can log on with a:

  • WPLD card
  • Library card from another SWAN library
  • Registered library card from a non-SWAN Illinois public library
  • One-day guest pass—present your photo ID at our Member Services Desk to receive a guest pass.

A user agreement must be signed for children ages 17 and under.

Software available on these computers includes:

  • Edge, Firefox and Chrome web browsers
  • Microsoft Office 2019 Standard (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote and OneDrive)
  • Adobe Reader
  • Various multimedia apps included in Windows 10

We are unable to install additional software on the public computers.

You can also check out the following devices for in-library use if you have a WPLD card:

  • Laptop or netbook
  • Charging cables
  • External DVD drive
  • Slide-to-digital converter
  • USB Numeric Keypad

Print, copy, scan and fax services are available at the Library.

We have a variety of mobile devices for you to take home. Use your Warrenville Library card to check out these and many other items for easy use at home, work or on the go:

  • Roku streaming device
  • Flip video camera
  • Mobile hotspot
  • Kindle E-reader or Kindle Fire tablet
  • Digital converter

1.  I don’t have a Warrenville Library card. Can I use a computer?

Yes. See notes under In the Library

2.  Do you have WiFi?

Yes. Connect to the WPLD_Public network. You don’t need a password.

3.  How much does it cost to print or copy?

Printing and copying are temporarily free due to the pandemic. Black and white printouts are 10 cents per side. Color printouts are 25 cents per side.

4.  Can I print from my own laptop or device?

Yes. Use our wireless printing service to upload your document or forward an email to Visit the Adult Services Desk if you have questions.

5.  Can I send or receive a fax?

You can send free domestic faxes using our SimpleScan station. We are unable to receive faxes. The Simple Scan station does not receive faxes or send faxes to international numbers.
