Our Summer Reading Challenge is open to readers of all ages and abilities. We encourage you to track reading on your own, as a family, listening to audiobooks, participating in storytimes or however else you may engage in literature this summer.
Beginning June 1, you can register with Beanstack, our new reading challenge software that makes it easy to log and track your reading time on its app or web platform.
Every time you read or listen to a book, you'll record your time in the Beanstack app or on a paper reading log, available beginning June 1.
Read or listen to whatever you like—mystery, graphic novels, romance, beach reads, cookbooks, self-help, foreign language, etc.
Young kids can record time spent "reading" picture books or listening to someone read stories to them.
Read books from any source, such as from our library—on our shelf, through a hold placed in the catalog or a digital title like on Libby or Hoopla—from your friends or from a Little Free Library in the area.
To collect free gifts and earn grand prize drawing entries*, all reading needs to be recorded in the Beanstack app, or submitted on a paper reading log to the Youth or Adult Services Desks, by 5 pm on July 31, 2022.
How to use Beanstack: Like most apps, you'll need to create an account, then register for summer reading. You can register yourself or your family. See instructions for signing up and logging your time spent reading at: HOW TO LOG READING TIME.

HOW TO LOG READING TIME
To participate in our summer reading challenge, you need to create an account and log your reading in a software platform called Beanstack, which has a web and mobile app. You can register as an Individual or as a Family. You can also use a printable reading log.
To get started, follow these instructions for accessing Beanstack through a web browser. To use the mobile app, see steps below.
How do I sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge?
2. Click the image under Challenges that says “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” Select the image based on age range.
3. If you have already created a Beanstack account, you can sign in here by clicking on Sign In and entering your login information. You can Register yourself or your family by clicking Register an Individual or Family.
4. Beanstack will ask if you have already created an account. If yes, please log in. If no, follow the prompts for registration. You’ll be asked if you want to register individually or if you are registering a child. You can always add children or other readers after you create your account.
5. To register, you’ll need to fill in pertinent information including a password.
Once you are registered and logged in, you’ll be able to Join the Challenge.
How do I log my reading?
1. At the top of the screen, click on the button that says "Log Reading and Activities."
2. Select the reader you are logging for.
3. Select Log Minutes (to gain badges and eligibility into the reading challenge, you have to log how many minutes you’ve read, not books).
4. Enter the amount of time you’ve spent reading, or use the reading timer! The reading timer is a useful tool if you care to log in before you start reading and then set a timer for how long you plan to read.
Entering the title information is completely optional.
2. When you open the app for the first time, click “Let’s Go!”
3. At the next prompt, select “School, Library, or Bookstore.”
4. At the next prompt, click “Find a Site” and type Warrenville Public Library to find our Beanstack site.
Once you find our site, sign in or register your account much like you would for most digital apps.
You will log your reading minutes as described above.

All Summer Reading Challenge participants will receive a free gift when they complete their individual challenge. Warrenville Public Library members will earn grand prize drawing entries for additional reading time (6 hours kids and teens; 10 hours adults) entered into Beanstack or submitted on a paper reading log.
