Reading Together 2008
Warrenville, West Chicago, Winfield
Bringing three communities together with three books
Sep. 13 - Oct. 23, 3008
The Public Libraries of Warrenville, West Chicago and Winfield have teamed up to create Reading Together, an annual six-week celebration of reading, beginning Saturday, Sep. 13. This year’s three featured books, Bless Me, Ultima (adults), Becoming Naomi Leon (youth) and Piñata (picture book) center around a theme of Spanish culture. The entire family is encouraged to participate in the book discussions and special programs at all of the libraries. Copies of the books are available for check-out at each library.
Special programs begin with an exciting Family Fiesta featuring refreshments, stories and crafts, from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sep. 13 at all three libraries. The celebration continues with a Mexican cooking demonstration and tasting at Winfield Public Library at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sep. 18; Arte Ambulante hands-on craft workshop at West Chicago Public Library at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday Sep. 23; and the Sueños Latin Jazz Band at Warrenville at 7 p.m., Thursday Oct. 23.
Participants may attend book discussions at the most convenient library.
All programs are free and open to all community residents. To register, contact the host library: Warrenville, 630/393-1171, West Chicago 630/231-1552, Winfield 630/653-7599.
